  • Discover beam, a new type of software for healthy thinking on the internet

  • Paris, 6th September 2022 – beam is a new kind of browser for macOS that aims to make sense of the things users find online. It combines web browsing and a powerful note-taking tool in a minimalist user interface and many other nifty features to allow users to build their own knowledge bases. At the end of your online session, you'll keep what matters!

    • beam is an attempt to make a healthier use of the Internet

      • Today’s browsers are performing the same task they did in the 90’s: displaying web pages.
      • Browsers and search have become indistinguishable for most people. They framed our cognitive behavior to such an extent we don’t even question it anymore.
      • It is possible these tools have reduced the human thinking process to a terminal-like approach. Sequentially typing in commands to get results is not how we think as humans.
      • We make the world our own by investing it with meaning. What we have gradually lost with browsers is the pleasure we derive from autonomously making sense of things and the ability to make use of our history.
      • It is time to build a tool aligned with our human nature.
    • beam restores the knowledge loop: learn - create - share

      • At beam, we believe in tools that foster autonomy, encourage inquisitiveness, strengthen personal agency, increase efficiency while acknowledging human pace and drive critical inquiry. We believe knowledge is the essential human project. That's why beam allows you to:
        • • nurture your personal information landscape,
        • • navigate with clarity and peace of mind,
        • • improve your thinking and uncover unexpected connections.
        • • browse with intent and become more discerning and demanding,
        • • do away with note apps, extensions, and distracting interactions,
